Rapid delivery secures more dual fan business for SKF

SKF South Africa’s capabilities and commitment once again came to the fore when the bearing and rotating specialist met a customer’s tight deadline for the design and supply of eight fan housings. The dual fan housings were required by the OEM customer, a global supplier of air and gas solutions, as part of a turbine application. Following discussions to determine the customer’s requirements, SKF’s engineering department presented a proposal. Satisfied that all the application criteria were met, the customer requested a quotation which SKF submitted in November 2016. The customer placed the order with a request that the first complete Dual Fan Housing units be delivered in January 2017 and the balance in February. “Although we were given an extremely short delivery time we pulled out all the stops to ensure that we make both deliveries to our customer on time,” says SKF Key Account Manager, Anneritha Maritz. The drawings for the housing design were supplied by the customer. The manufacture of the dual fan housings included a bearing housing, deep groove ball bearing (DGBB), end covers as well as seals and shaft fasteners. Impressed with both the quality of the dual fan housings as well as the fast turnaround times the customer ordered more units from SKF. SKF is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems, and services which include technical support, maintenance and reliability services, engineering consulting and training.
