Atlas Copco backs Jacaranda Water Drive in the wake of South Africa’s drought
Sustainable productivity
solutions provider Atlas Copco bequeathed a helping hand to relieve the plight
of people in some of South Africa’s drought-stricken areas.
Atlas Copco South Africa’s Managing Director, Frans van Niekerk,
became aware of local radio station, Jacaranda FM’s water drive initiative in
conjunction with Pureau. “Pureau happens to be our bottled water supplier and
recognising the dire need of our country’s people, we decided to heed the call
for support in donating water to areas that were severely affected by water
deficiencies,” explains Atlas Copco South Africa and Sub-Sahara Communications
Manager, Kgothatso Ntsie.
“The recent drought not only affected our farmers, but also us, the
consumers, and therefore we were extremely excited to support and be a part of
this project.”
Ntsie adds that this particular initiative was of special
significance owing to the fact that Atlas Copco has a CSI initiative called
‘Water for All’. “Through the Water for
All project, we set out to make clean, potable water a possibility for all. The
more recent beneficiaries of our initiative were learners from the Mhlazane
Primary School in Rorke’s Drift, Kwa-Zulu Natal.”

water comprising of 14,748 five litre bottles donated and delivered to
